The California Theater of the Performing Arts is the showplace of
live entertainment in the Inland Empire, featuring first class national tours,
exquisite San Bernardino Symphony performances, spectacular concerts with
Maestro Carlo Ponti, Jr., and lively ballet presentations.
Performances take place in the historic 1,700-seat California
Theater of the Performing Arts which is one of just three such remaining movie
theaters in the nation. Opened in 1928, the theater features lavish Spanish
colonial style architecture and interior with beautiful inlays, chandeliers,
sweeping staircase, tapestries and ornate sculptured moldings, both inside and
out. Will Rogers gave his last performance here in 1935 before his untimely
death, and is celebrated on the exterior by two 68-foot-high murals by the
world famous artist Kent Twitchell.
The California Theater is home to the San Bernardino Symphony,
Theatrical Arts International, Sinfonia Mexicana, and the Inland Dance Theater.
